Summer Camp 2018

Posted on June 26th, 2018 by 1st4thscouts

Both cub packs and the scouts had a successful camp in mid June. The camp was at Birchmere Campsite, a new one for most of the group, which can be hard to find, but with an excellent sign in place there was no problems for the parents dropping off.

The site is relatively small and located in woodland between the A3 and M25. Despite the proximity of two major roads the site is very peaceful and has a nice ‘remote’ feel.

The cubs and scouts followed separate programmes for much of the weekend with the cubs cooking pizza on camp fires, hiking to the semaphore tower, playing ‘football golf’ and building ballistas.

The scouts cooked their own breakfast over fires on both days and did extensive pioneering, including an impressive swing. On the Saturday evening we had a traditional campfire after an excellent barbeque prepared by the catering team. Apart from a brief shower on the Sunday morning the weather held up really well.

The camp concluded with a brief closing ceremony and flag down.
